More news about the exciting Chrome OS! Google said today that it plans to release its Chrome operating system in the fourth quarter this year and will target laptop users initially before opening it up for desktops.
Sundar Pichai, Google’s vice president of product management said today in a speech that the “Chrome OS will be offered to the users in the fourth quarter this year”, at the Computex electronics exhibition at Taipei, Taiwan.
Initially it was thought that Chrome OS would be competing head on with Windows 7 and its release was to fall in the thrid quarter for this to happen. However with the new update from the vice president of product management himself, Chrome seems to want to take more time in developing itself before an entry in to the market.
Chrome OS would offer the Chrome web store which will open at the same time to let users download web applicates that can be loaded on to the Chrome OS.
It is interesting to note that Chrome OS would be released for laptops first, stressing on the fact that Chrome OS is all about computing in mobility.
May be Chrome OS will be as fast or faster than the Chrome browser.
