Finally Microsoft has some news to smile about. It was reported that Microsoft’s search engine, Bind has passed Yahoo to become the number two search engine in the US. The latest data report from the research firm The Nielsen Company said that in August, Bing grew from 13.6 percent to 13.9 percent. Yahoo shrunk from 14.3 percent to 13.1 percent. All this while Google’s share was up from 64.2 percent to 65 percent. Even if it were a number two Bing has a long way to go to over come Google’s mammoth share of the market.
Experts agree that the growth in Bing searchers could be related to the last month’s announcement that Yahoo was being powered by Bing search in the US and Canada. In recent months Bing’s share has been steadily increasing since the last six months.
The research firm Nielsen said that its search data only counted genuine searches that users type in a search box. While the research firm claims Bing has surpassed Yahoo, other similar research groups show Yahoo in the second place.
