Microsoft announced today that the new “Halo” game release has generated more than $200 million in sales in the US and European markets with in the first 24 hours of its release. The new release called “Halo: Reach” is officially the biggest entertainment launch of 2010 in the US. The launch has surpassed other Hollywood’s biggest blockbusters by generating a record $200 million sales in a single day.
Microsoft Game Studios said in a statement, “Halo: Reach is the biggest game Microsoft has ever released, and its launch has already surpassed every game, movie and entertainment launch this year.” Around the world thousands of retail stores hosted events called midnight madness on Monday night to mark the arrival of the Halo:Reach. It is also being reported that Halo: Reach will walk into the Guinness Book of World Records as the most popular video game series of all time.
Stephen McGill who is the director of Xbox and Entertainment said, “Demand for ‘Halo: Reach’ has been phenomenal across the world”.
