Everyone knows that Bing has been losing money hand over fist trying to find a way to make money on in the search market. But now it looks like Microsoft is using features in Internet Explorer 8 and IE toolbar to find out what links people use on Google when searching a specific query. Now, sure doing a search for “purchase online music” will probably return the same results in the same order on the first page of any respectable webcrawling search engine. Several tests done by Google, however, show that Bing returns the same results on a query of randomly generated gibberish. This, Google believes, is reason to point the finger at Bing for search plagerism. I believe that this at the very least a shady attempt at improving Bing search results through corporate espionage rather than through the traditional methods. If we wanted Google’s results, why shouldn’t we just use Google?
