This is interesting. The Google Nexus One was yet to get its Android 4.0 Ice cream update but CyanogenMod ported the device with the new OS anyway. CyanogenMod is one of the most popular unofficial Android ROMs which power users can install, and the latest version, CyanogenMod 9, is based on the code for Ice Cream Sandwich. It’s yet to be publicly released, but a video has already surfaced showing this flavour of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich running on the Google Nexus One.
The video shows that the phone runs smoothly, which is quite surprising for a two year old phone! The Google Nexus One’s trackball is rendered useless and screenshots are not as normal with the new OS. There’s also no hardware acceleration and the bits are a little sticky.
