the-panther-2Would you buy this? A Canadian PC maker today announced that it was taking “pre-orders” for its $12,000 laptop! The company called Eurocom is claiming The Panther 2.0 has a high price tag but comes with a configuration that will be hard to beat.

The Panther 2.0 has a 4TB storage which is something that might be offered to a desktop or servers. This is the first time we hear about a laptop offering such storage space. The laptop is said to be designed to be able to replace the fastest desktop computers and is set to be used for high end graphics and design.

It comes with the ATi’s CrossfireX Video Technology with two ATi Radeon Mobility HD5870. You also have an option to choose NVIDIA SLI with two GeForce GTX 480M or NVIDIA Quadro FX 3800M or Quadro FX 5000M graphics cards.

The laptop has a 17.3 inch LCD which gives you about 1920×1080 and 3D is optional. It also comes with 24 GB of RAM (memory) which matches most of the servers. There is also a 3.0 mega pixel webcam  can support AMD’s CrossFire X and Nvidia’s Scalable Link Interface (SLI) technologies to link graphics cards together. It is also powered by 6-core Intel Processor.

The company says that this laptop is a perfect high-end PC replacement. The price however is set to decrease as the prices for components fall.

Three years from now you will find this configuration on Dell’s site for $599. Rest assured!
