What a shocker, in a press release Apple has confirmed that former CEO and visionary Steve Jobs has passed away today at the age of 56. This news is in just a little over a month of Jobs stepping down from being the Apple CEO and handing over operations to Tim Cook. Jobs remained on Apple’s Board of Directors as Chairman.

Tim Cook’s first major pubic appearance as CEO took place yesterday with the announcement of the Apple iPhone 4S. Apple’s official statement was, “We are deeply saddened to announce that Steve Jobs passed away today. Steve’s brilliance, passion and energy were the source of countless innovations that enrich and improve all of our lives. The world is immeasurably better because of Steve. His greatest love was for his wife, Laurene, and his family. Our hearts go out to them and to all who were touched by his extraordinary gifts”.

Apple is asking for “thoughts, memories, and condolences” about Steve Jobs to be send to rememberingstev[email protected]. Steve Jobs is known for leaving his mark on the mobile industry through the introduction of the iPhone and the iPad and also revolutionizing the industry with his vision and his products.

Steve Jobs will be greatly missed. Rest in peace.
