Looks like the worlds cheapest tablet will have some competition. A new tablet has entered the India tablet market from Classteacher Learning Systems called the Classpad. The Aakash has already started well though and has already chalked up 1.4 million pre-orders in just two weeks.

The Classpad tablet for $140 is priced at nearly three times the cost of the budget Aakash tablet but has better and higher specifications.

The ClassPad brings to users a Android 2.2 Froyo, with 8Gb of internal memory and a 6 hour battery life. Together with an improved touchscreen when compared to the Aakash tablet.

“Classpad’s user friendly interface makes it convenient for the students and teachers to get acquainted with the application. It is equipped with software that is designed to integrate smoothly with an existing school platform. Classpad tablet provides the content in a ‘school friendly’ manner by supporting commonly used school applications", says Classteacher the maker of ClassPad.
