Okay so is Google trying to set some kind of a message that it really means do no evil? ARS today reported that Google's search team demoted the main page for its Chrome browser for at least 60 days after being accused of violating its own policy against paid links with a marketing campaign designed to boost Chrome's popularity.
Apparantly searching Google for "chrome" no longer brings up www.google.com/chrome in the first page of results. For me it brought up Googles support page for Chrome. Search Engine land reported this news first that searching for browser key word does not bring up the chrome browser anymore either.
infact there was a uproar recently in the community about this which Google has acted on to. "We’ve investigated and are taking manual action to demote and lower the site’s PageRank for a period of at least 60 days," Google said.
