It is being said a true iPad killer. The much anticipated Samsung Galaxy Tab is all set to take over the tablet market. Samsung announced in a press conference that the Galaxy Tab would be launched on all the four major US carrier networks. These include Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile. However only the Wi-Fi Galaxy Tab will be available which includes 3G while the 4G capable Galaxy Tab will not be launched.
The Galaxy Tab is being hailed as a true iPad killer. It runs the latest Android 2.2 – Froyo and will also support Adobe Flash content. The Tab has a 7” diagonal 16:9 wide touchscreen with 1024 x 600 pixel resolution. The screen however is smaller than the iPad. The Galaxy Tab is also packed with both front and rear facing 1.3 and 3 mega pixel autofocus cameras with LED flash respectively. The cameras will let you capture still photos and DVD quality videos. The Galaxy Tab also supports up to 32GB MicroSD card in addition to its 16GB of internal storage. Galaxy Tab made sure it surpassed iPad in features in order to offer consumers a true alternative.
Samsung is also offering a new product called the Samsung Media Hub which is similar to the Apple iTunes store. It offers new release videos and movies for purchase and rental as well as next-day TV shows for purchase. No pricing was announced however speculation is the downloads for TV would range from $1.99 to $2.99 per episode and movies are to range from $4 to $6.
Samsung declined to announce any pricing on the Galaxy Tab and it is yet to be known. However it is clear that Samsung and Google are serious about making an ultimate iPad killer, will this be it? Time will tell.
Update: Rumors are being reported that the Tab is set to sell at $200 – $400 on contract and around $600 – $700 as an unlocked package and will be released next month.
