netflix wii

netflix wiiEveryone wondered why Netflix did not come up with an app styled application for Wii and PS3 and instead was sending out discs that let you access streaming. Well Netflix finally announced today that the PS3 and Wii will be receiving streaming without a disc, all you have to do is to visit their store and download their application on Wii and PS3.

The application can be downloaded from the Wii Channel on the Wii and from the PlayStation Network on the PS3. However you will have to be a subscriber for the Netflix streaming services which starts at $8.99 per month, to be able to access their massive growing library of films.

Netflix’s CEO Mr Reed Hastings said in a statement, “The availability of Netflix right on the Wii Menu adds significantly to the ease and convenience that attracts our members to the Netflix streaming experience and is an important step in our efforts to continuously improve the service”.

To add this service just visit the Play station network and look for it under “Whats New”. Visit the Wii Channels on your Wii to download and load the Netflix application.

For the record my Netflix PS3 disc kept getting worn out often! Me, for one, am glad to see this new change!
