Now soon it will be a felony if you are caught streaing movies over the internet. Two months ago Victoria Espinel of the US Intellectual Property Enforcement Coordinator made changes to a US law where a suggestion was made to online streaming of copyrighted content to be considered as a full scale felony.

Now taking her up on that suggestion, Senators Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and John Cornyn (R-TX) introduced such a bill. The bill by the name S. 978, isn’t officially available yet for a copy but the brief of the bill states that reproducing and distributing copyrighted works are felony charges and also  cover P2P transfers and Web downloads as well.

The bill states that online streamers can now face up0 to five years in prison and a fine. As expected movie producers and theater owners support the bill and are happy about it.
