NVIDIA today said that it was working on bringing quad-core mobile processors to the market by the end of this year. Codenamed “Kal-El”, NVIDIA says these quad-core processor based Android tablets will be out as early as August 2011. NVIDIA says these next generation mobile processors will surpass the performance of the fastest desktops that are available in the market today.

The Kal-El which is basically Tegra 3 will boost performance quad-fold and is actually twice as energy efficient than its predecessors. Tegra 3 will give end users performance that is comparable to an Intel 2 Dual core processor. It doesn’t end here, NVIDIA says that it is working on Tegra 4 codenamed “Wayne” for 2012 which will be 10x times as fast as Tegra 2. In 2013 and 2014 we will see “Logan” which is a Tegra 5 chip to give speeds of up to 50x and “Stark” boosting performance to almost 100x what Tegra 2 can do today.
