Android tablets are popping up everywhere and now in the Indian market! Olive Telecom, based in the city of Gurgoan has announced the launch of a new tablet PC called The Olive Pad VT100 which is said to be India’s first 3G tablet PC. The coolest part is this can be used not just as a tablet PC but also as your smartphone.
The tablet is also capable of allowing users to make voice and video calls which is simply superb. Its a tablet/smartphone. The Olive pad running the Android OS has some cool features packed into it.
It supports the latest 3.5G HSUPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS. It has a flashy 7” touchscreen which is bigger than the Dell Streak’s 5” inch screen. It also boasts of dual cameras (a 3 megapixel rear camera and a VGA front camera) and mini-USB port.
The Olive Pad is expected to be priced below Rs 25,000 which is about 450$ and will be available across India by August. No word of any international release but Russia and European nation markets were showing interest in the product.
It is interesting to note that Apple’s iPad is yet to be officially be available in India and Olive pad is here on time to grab a share in the market. Looks like the Indians can’t wait any longer and have taken matters into their own hands! 🙂
