Hitachi today announced that it developed a touch panel LCD which is 30 percent thinner than any existing model in the market. This new LCD is to be applied in mobile phones making them more thinner and lighter. The new LCD touch panel has a display of just 0.1mm which is less from the standard 0.5mm. This helped the panel to reduce its width from 2 mm to 1.5mm.
Hitachi says its thin panels will not suffer from touch-panel noise emission because of its control software. Hitachi is planning to get these panels into production by the second half of 2011. Hitachi plans to have these panels put into tablets and mobiles.
