The new Sony Xperia Ion is now available for pre-order in its unlocked form from Negri Electronics, which is offering it for $569.50. It is a little expensive but it is one of the best Android smartphones to date in the market. It was rumored that it may be more expensive but looks like the price is set.
The separate question is what you’re going to do with the unlocked Xperia Ion in the U.S. since it cannot sing along T-Mobile’s 3G network. You can buy it here and use it in Europe and parts of Asia, but if you plan to use it in the States, you’ll need some kind of plan with AT&T, though you won’t have to commit on any contracts whatsoever.
