elite-detailingCar washes here in the US cost an average of $5 and upwards but did you ever go to a car wash that would cost you $11,000? Well that’s what is being offered by one, Gurcharn Sahota who offers top-of-the-range super car wash. UK born Gurcharn who is about 30 years old and owns Elite Detailing, a luxury car cleaning and detailing center.

Since its inception in 2005, Sahota has cleaned a host of luxury cars including Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls-Royces. His clients include the rich and famous including Premiership footballers, musicians, celebrities and top business people.

Elite Detailing shot into limelight following its boom in the business despite the financial downtime and his expansion of the firm to another location in Worcestershire, closer to his clients. In an interview to a magazine Gurcharn said, “When I was growing up I developed a real passion for super cars. I had posters of them all over my bedroom wall. It sounds strange but I also developed a passion for cleaning cars. I would regularly clean my dad’s car.”

After his education at Birmingham University he went ahead with the ambition to clean luxury cars. He set up the business after convincing an Aston Martin dealer to let him clean a DB9 for free. The dealer was so impressed with his work that they passed Gurcharn’s details on to clients.

Gurcharn was also able to develop his own cleaning techniques and a few products to be used on high performance cars. His kit is interesting which includes a forensic microscope to detect tiny scratches and his premises are lined with specialist tiles imported from Italy which help reflect flecks of dirt on the cars.

Each vehicle takes up to 250 hours to clean and his premier service includes polishing and buffing every inch of the car inside and out five times. The cleaning process is thorough. The car is initially wasted with a pH neutral shampoo and citrus degreasers. It is then hand dried for the next process of cleaning which includes decontamination of the vehicle using clay bars.

Gurcharn said that he was delighted when he was asked to clean a McLaren F1 GTR, worth about £5 million.

At the end of the day the bill to clean and detail a luxury car at Elite Detailing costs approximately $11,000.
